A Gift for a Friend

Hello stampers.  On the 11th day of Christmas I made a gift to give away...a cute little decorated tin.

This tin is so easy to make.  I have simply covered the tin with some of the new SU papers.  Then I  punched holes, and set the large eyelets, with my crop-a-dile.  The crop-a-dile goes through the tin like butter !!  So easy.  Then I simply pulled the ends of my ribbon rolls through the eyelets for an easy to take along ribbon container.

My dad had a round-a-bout and a Christmas tree dedicated for him in Covington.  I guess the mayor told my stepmom that the next time Zachary gets over there we'll have to go down and get a photo with him in his grandpa's circle.  I just laughed.  Anyhow, if you want to see the tree you can CLICK HERE.   It's kind of neat that the city is remembering my dad so thought I'd share with all of you.

Cranberry fudge...yummy in the tummy !

Hello stampers.  I'm back after computer problems...once again.  I'm hoping Santa brings me a new computer for Christmas.  We shall see what is under the tree in just a few days !!  So thanks for hanging in there with me. 

However, we have unfinished business...the rest of our 12 Days of Christmas.

So, without any more chit chat, here is another fun gift...remember the wrapping can easily make the gift extra special !!!

On the 10th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me...some yummy wrapped Christmas treats.

I think it's important to remember to take time to make little gifts for those you care for.  Sometimes in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we tend to think "bigger gifts are better".  But we all know that a homemade gift can be just as special.  So in honour of my mom, who was the Christmas candy/cookie queen and gave AWAY TONS of hard work, I'm sharing two cute little decorated bags of goodies and a wonderful fudge recipe.  Enjoy stampers and we'll celebrate day 11 tomorrow. 

Ginger / Cranberry Fudge

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

2/3 cups evaporated milk

2 Tablespoons butter

2 cups white chocolate chips

1 1/4 cups dried cranberries chopped

1/2 cup chopped ginger

Combine sugar, ground ginger, evaporated milk, butter.  Bring to rolling boil and stir constantly until temperature reaches 234 degrees.  Remove and stir in rest of ingredients until chips are melted.  Pour into pan and let set before cutting.  I use a 9" square pan and cut into small pieces.

The Winner Is...

Hello stampers. What a wonderful day it has been.  I had such a lovely time with a great group of stamping ladies today.  We laughed, ate some D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S treats they brought, and yes, did some stamping.  Now I am holding off showing more Christmas as I decided to show what these girls made for their Christmas glass blocks.  These are so stunning in real life.  The photos do not do them justice !

If you click on the photo you should be able to enlarge the pictures.  Also, if you look at the block in the middle, the design is one that this particular stamper used by masking and stamping around the deer.  This was gorgeous.  All the blocks, even though similar, took on a life of their own and looked so different.  It is truly amazing !!!

Now...drum roll please...Today was the day that I knew there would be someone unbiased here at the house to draw a winning name.  So, I read off the names on the paper "slips" and put them into the hat, well, on top of a plastic lid if you want the truth (he he), and then Lorraine drew the name of the person who won the 10,000 Blog Hits Goody Bag.  Congratulations goes to Zoe K.  Way to go and a HUGE thank you to all of you who regularly check in to see what I've been up to.  You are the best !!

On the 9th Day of Christmas...

Hello stampers.  I have something fun to show you today that will be PERFECT for Christmas.  I forgot that I had made one of these and tucked it away for this 12 days of Christmas event.  So...instead of tree ornaments tonight you get something else...how fun is that?

On the 9th day of Christmas my stamping fingers made for me...a cracker for you all to see (I know, I know, my rhyming is TERRIBLE...hehe, right along with my photo taking !).

Tomorrow I have some more stampers coming to join me in making our decorated glass Christmas blocks.  It will be a busy, but fun day as I adore all these ladies.  They are GREAT !

Now, I need to get things wrapped up as Survivor is on and I need to see who got kicked off last week 'cause you guessed it....I fell asleep in the last 5 minutes....HOW FRUSTRATING !!

On the 8th Day of Christmas...

Hello stampers. What a busy day it's been. Mr. Zach was up at 6:00 am and then there was a terrific bunch of ladies here today stamping... and then I had to make cookies for coffee at church tomorrow (thank you to my lovely hubbie for switching days with someone at the last minute). Oh well...now our turn will be over earlier and it was a nice cool day for making cookies (smile).  Sure beats turning on the oven in 100 degree weather.  I miss baking Christmas cookies like we did back home in the states.  It was always so cold and we usually had snow.  There's something magical about baking/frosting Christmas cutout cookies indoors when the snowflakes are falling outside the windows !!!  It's not so magical (he he) when it's really hot outdoors !!

On the 8th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...time to spend with the girls stamping blocks.  I know, doesn't rhyme but what's a girl to do (smile).

Now I can't take credit for planning these blocks as there are absolutely TONS of ideas out on my favourite site...Splitcoast.  If you want to know how to make e-mail me otherwise got to splitcoaststampers.com and search for decorated glass blocks and there are many examples.

Now I have added a couple more photos of the blocks close-up.  They are so beautiful in real life...the picture does not do them justice !

Now remember, tomorrow is Sunday so I'm taking the day off from the blog for family time.  I'll be back to finish up our last few days of Christmas on Monday.

On the 6th Day of Christmas...

Hello stampers.  Sorry I couldn't post last night but we couldn't get the internet to work.  We are satellite internet and whenever we have storms or really cloudy weather we can't seem to get logged on.  So...here is what I planned to show you.  I will post the 7th day this evening so watch for that.

On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...something to recycle and save a tree (smile).

What we have here is an old stool that was around the house.  Blue colour originally.  So we cleaned, sanded, repainted and I stamped using the Bugs & Kisses set.  Simple but effective.  So remember stampers, you don't always have to buy something new to stamp on...recycle something around the house.  Hmmm....do I hear a challenge coming on?  Oh, I think I do...I  challenge you to look around the house, in the garage or pantry and find something you can recyle and stamp on.  If you get a project done send me a photo and I will share with everyone.

Okay stampers...I had better get going as I'm the "grease" girl right now as Denis and his dad are working on a stuck part on the header and they need a third hand.  Hmmm..so much for stamping.  Now..wouldn't a header look cute stamped with Baroque Motifs (he he).  Okay, my brain is going !!

On the 5th day of Christmas...

Hello stampers. I just finished cleaning up from card club and decided that I absolutely HAD to share with you one of the cutest things I've ever seen !

So... On the 5th day of Christmas one of my stamp clubbers gave to me...the most darling Christmas Tree (hugs to you Jenni for making this for my birthday).

OH MY GOSH stampers...this tree is so cute in real life. I will take a better photo tomorrow in the daylight so you can get a much better look (plus one that is not cut off on the bottom...oops).  This tree is CUTE, CUTE, CUTE. Not to mention...this little tree opens up and is FILLED with chocolate. What more could a girl ask for???

Tonight was the last night of the Gummi Girls' stamp club and we had a christmas breakup with gorgeous dessert and some bubbly. YUMMO...Therse are a clever group of stampers who continually amaze me with their creativity.  Hugs to all the Gummi Girls for a spectacular, fun-filled year.  The  countdown is on until we meet again in February!

The Third Day of Christmas...

Hello stampers.  I hope you are off to a wonderful week.

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me...something to mark my Stampin' Up book...that's right, a stamped bookmark.  Now,in one photo the words look crooked - not sure why though.  You'll see in the other photos that they are straight :)

Now, here's how to make your own:  1.  Tap your hodgepodge hardware piece into a Versamark pad, and then dip into embossing powder.  Using tweezer heat until melted.  Repeat.  Always hold tweezer in the same spot on the end as that bit will be hidden under your ribbon so it doesn't need to "look good".

2.  Stamp your design on whisper white cardstock.  Flip your hardware upside down and trace around the outside.  Trim. 

3.  Wrap wide ribbon over the piece of hardware.  Attach together with brad.

4.  Take your cut out, stamped image, and attach to back of hardware with Mono Adhesive Glue or Crystal Effects.  I've used Crystal Effects.

5.  Add additional ribbon through other "hole" on the hardware.

Supplies used today include:  Versamark Inkpad; Glitter and 2 Way Glue Pen; Silver Hodgepodge Hardware; White Embossing Powder; Heat tool; Tweezers; Whisper White Cardstock; Regal Rose, Bashful Blue and Close to Cocoa Stampin' Write Markers; Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon; Pink Checked ribbon; and Bashful Blue Double Stitched Ribbon (coming out of the new summer mini catalogue); Pretty in Pink brad; and the stamps came from the sets "Oh so Lovely" and "Occassional Greetings."

On the Second Day of Christmas...

Hello stampers.  Today we are celebrating the second day of Christmas.  Hmmm...what shall we see?

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me...some chocolates in a clear pouch.  Now, who doesn't love chocolate???  Okay, I know there are some but for the majority chocolate is a winner hands down.  YUMMY.  Now, I always say it's the packaging and not necessarily what's inside that counts.

This little box uses a clear acetate sheet; sticky strip adhesive; chocolate chip satin ribbon; and one of the snowflakes from the soon to retire Snowburst Set.

These little packages would be great to place on your Christmas tree in the event someone unplanned stops by and you want to give them a little present.  Easy, cute, can be adapted to whatever occassion, and can be filled with TONS of stuff.  If you would like a copy of this pouch e-mail me and I will send one your way.

Okay, a little late, but here is our First Day of Christmas

Hello stampers.  Sorry about our delayed Christmas posts.  Poor Zachie has been sick.  Yesterday had a high fever which thankfully we got down last night.  He still isn't eating but at least no fever today.  It was all I could do to take care of him and we all know family is our first priority.  

So....our 12 days of Christmas will officially start today just go on for a couple more days :)  Who doesn't like Christmas to keep going? 

On the First Day of Christmas my true love gave to me....A vase to hold all our keys (he no longer gives me flowers since we got married ...silly man !).

Oh my gosh stampers...this is so easy to do.  Would you like to know how????   Okay, okay, I know you are asking for the directions.  Well...let me tell you they are super easy !

You will  need a glass container with fairly flat sides so it's easy to stamp.  You will also need to purchase some glass frosting spray in whatever colour you like.  I chose purple to go with my dining area.  I have used the Snowburst Stamp Set from the Spring Mini Catalogue (expires on the 30th of November).

1. Use an Embossing Buddy and swipe over your glass image to prevent extra embossing powder from sticking where you don't want.
2. Using your chosen stamps, and a versamark pad, randomly stamp images over one side of your project.  Pour on clear embossing powder and tap off any extra.  If you don't like an image you can completely clean off and start again. 
3. Actually heating up the glass can be a bit tricky.  I encourage you all to wear some protective glasses just in case it would be break while you were melting the embossing powder.  Using your heat tool begin waving the heat back and forth across a couple images at a time.  The secret to NOT breaking your glass is to constantly move the heat and don't let it concentrate in one spot.  Be patient.  Because you are heating up the glass it takes longer to emboss than if you did it on paper.  I have been so tempted to hold the heat gun still over an image but TRUST me...it will break :)  
4. Be careful as the glass will be hot.  I did two sides of the vase, let cool, then completed the other two sides.
5. Once all the embossing was finished I sprayed with the Glass Frosting.  Let dry and VOILA...a simple gift that looks like you spent a long time making!!
